The biggest worry, discussed in tests being inequitable, is the presence of bias possibility or differential functioning. Because bias causes test validity to be suspected and doubted. Objective: In this research differential item functioning on the whole 14 blocks of mathematics tests of TIMSS in grade 8 between Iranian girls and boys has been studied using IRT approach. Method: In the order that, first, data have been recoded by SPSS and the assumption of items being unidimensional in all blocks, by NOHARM software have been studied. In the next step the best model that is known as “base model” has been fit for data by BILOG-MG software. In the next process from that base model for studying the items having differential functioning and anchor, IRTLRDIF (Thissen,2001) has been used and at last for final estimation of item and ability parameters, MULTILOG software has been used. Findings show that from 219 items, being studied, of mathematics test in grade 8 of TIMSS 2011, 144 anchor items and 75 items have DIF and items have differential functioning and it is to the loss of girls, the focal group.

Background: Health promotion lifestyle is a multidimensional pattern of self-initiated actions and perceptions that serve to maintain and enhance the level of wellness, self-actualization and fulfillment of the individual. Objective: The main purpose of the present study was to investigate psychometric properties of the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II, Walker, Sechrist & Pender, 1995) among Iranian university students. Method: 324 university students (130 male, 194 female) completed the HPLP-II and the Emotional Adjustment Measure (EAM, Rubio, Aguado, Hontangas & Hernandez, 2007). The confirmatory factor analysis method and internal consistency were used to compute the HPLP-II's factorial validity and reliability, respectively. Also, in order to examine the construct validity of the HPLP-II, we computed correlations between different dimensions of HPLP-II with emotional adjustment. Results: The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated that 6-factor structure of the HPLP-II consisted health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, spiritual growth, interpersonal relations and stress management had good fit to data in the Iranian sample. Correlational analyses between different dimensions of HPLP-II with emotional adjustment provided initial evidence for the PSRS convergent validity. Cronbach’s α Coefficients ranged from 0/56 to 0/80 for six dimensions. Conclusion: In sum, these findings provide evidence for the validity and reliability of the HPLP-II as an instrument to measure of health lifestyle among Iranian university students.

This study aimed to evaluate of realizing the cognitive goals students’ in high school and pre-university religion and life curriculum. This research is R&D and evaluative. The population consisted of students in all school districts in Tehran province (academic year 2010-2011) that were selected by multistage cluster sampling method and randomly. In order to verify the cognitive goals of religious education used achievement tests of multiple choices in six levels. To measure the progress of lower levels goals of cognitive used knowledge and understanding level tests’. Too, the measure the progress of higher levels goals of cognitive used application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation tests’ to separate gradesThe results showed that was not realized in the first grade and pre-university, none of the goals of low levels of cognitive (knowledge and understanding) and High levels (application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation). While in the second and third grades was relatively knowledge level and other level were unacceptable. According to results, knowledge goals of religious education have not been realized in secondary and pre-university generally. So, suggestions are presented for improving cognitive goals.

The aim of research refers to the evaluation of skill and compilation norms of female students skills in general Physical Education at the Shahid Rajaee teacher training University. The statistic population of research includes the whole female students at Shahid Rajaee teacher training University that are passing the general PE in Swimming & Table Tennis. The available population includes 200 university students who have passed term 1 and 2 in year 1390 & 1391, and term 1 in Year 1392. The participants at the Table Tennis were 100 students who have participated at the final tests after passing the training course at the end of the semester. The test includes forehand bouncing and forehand and backhand rally as well as the service techniques. From the 100 participants for swimming, the 24 students were omitted due to different reasons; some did not participated at the training course and some did not participated the final test. Therefore, the research is done based on the findings from the 64 remaining students at the swimming. The three tests for swimming include rotairy kick, the number of rallies at the pool length and the number of hand rallies at the pool length.Taking into consideration the achieved results from the three tests at the swimming and table tennis, the grade 6 is assigned for each test, and in total, the grade 18 is gained (from 20). The remaining grade of 2 is considered as the grade for the class homework. This is the way of grading for the general PE at the Shahid Rajaee teacher training University.Hence, there is no simillar research for skill norms at the general PE for Swimming & Table Tennis, it is impossible to compare the achieved findings with the other researches, and therefore, we just presented the achieved results.

Objective: This research was carried out with the aim of exploration, description and explication of PhD applicants’ and faculty members’ attitudes on the method of the PhD applicants’ selection (semi-focused and non-focused). Method: To do so, a mixed-methods design was used and the data was collocated in two stages from the academics and also the experts in different fields. In qualitative process about 70 professors and students in different majors were individually interviewed in focus groups; open coding method was used in the process of analyzing the qualitative data, then, the concerns and mental stresses of the beneficiaries in this area were identified. In the quantitative part, 500 academics from the universities in Tehran were asked to answer the researcher-made questionnaires and then the questionnaires were analyzed very carefully. Especially in administrative part, the executive priority was given to the qualitative research and analysis of qualitative findings. Discussion: the discussion was carried out based on the findings of qualitative analysis. In each part, for the purpose of comparing, approving or determining the conflicting cases, the findings of quantitative analysis were presented together with the qualitative findings. Results: the results showed that there was a significant difference between the professors’ and students’ attitudes on the selection of PhD applicants in semi-focused method; namely the professors tended to have more share in the process of selecting PhD applicants, while the applicants were in favor of allocating more share to national organization of educational testing (NOET) in the selection process.

This study aimed to discover the most optimal method of smoothing data in different equating methods. For this purpose, data were exactly collected using both TOLIMO and Comprehensive Tests of Iran Educational Testing Organization administered in 1391-92. To analyze data collected from Comprehensive Tests of Iran Educational Testing Organization, only the items related to joint general subjects from majors of mathematics and physics, science and humanities were utilized. Data were collected from samples with different sizes and tests with different lengths in terms of items to discover the most optimal method for smoothing data in test equating. As to TOLIMO, equating NEAT design was used while in Comprehensive Tests it was homogeneous groups design. Results of the analyses showed that to smooth data in TOLIMO, the first model (logarithmic linear model including mean, variance, skewness and kurtosis- the first four transformations for the test and anchor) which is simpler was selected. Thus, the best model for smoothing data collected from TOLIMO (form X) was discovered in three sample sizes 0f 200, 500 and 1000 participants. In the same way, in the form Y of TOLIMO with sample sized of 200 and 1000 participants the first model was recognized the best model, but in sample size of 500 people the second model was selected best. As to the data collected from Comprehensive Tests (both X and Y forms), the third model of logarithmic linear models including mean, variance, skewness and kurtosis (the first four transformations) was the best model with different sample sizes of 200, 500 and 1000 people since a model with the lowest AIC has better fitness indexes. Findings, also, indicated that the larger the sample size was and the longer the test was in terms of items, the more improved the fitness for Kernel smoothing there would be.
