Background: Concept maps usage expanding as an academic achievement measurement tools great a challenge in scoring them. This study introduces three scoring methods of the concept maps tests: (1) relational method that in which a relationship between concepts separately was scored. (2) structural method that based on scores was given to hierarchical organization of the concepts. (3) similarity method that in which a student’s concept map compares with a teacher’s concept map and assign score for each section of the map. Objective: The objective of the present research was to examining the validity and reliability of concept map-based tests scoring methods. critical validity, interpreter reliability and discriminative reliability were used to identify the most appropriate method of scoring. Method: the subjects of the research comprised 105 high school students in Tabriz city who were present in four classes. Results: Results showed that the relational method of scoring has higher quantities of the indicators than other methods. Similarity scoring method has the lowest indices in comparison with two other methods. Conclusion: These findings may have some implications in evaluating students' academic achievement which will be discussed in this paper. .

Background: The present research has been undertaken with a view to specify the student admission status in Iranian higher education system from the point of view of students studying in some of the state owned universities in Tehran university, professors in Sanjesh organization and some of the related higher education officials. Object: The attitudes derived from three sample populations were investigated which revolved around the procedures and the current constituents (including the concentrated testing method, comprehensive examination method, the factor of average written score, the knowledge baseline score, the students quota and students gender) as well as other influential factors (such as non-concentrated examination method, the educational background factor, intelligence and educational aptitude). Method: The research was a descriptive survey. The sample was prepared based on Iran's Morgan table and the research subjects were composed of 346 students from three well known universities such as Sharif Industrial University Shahid Beheshtee University and Allameh Tabataba'i University along with their member board of academicians and a number of the higher education officials. Results: The results obtained in this research are as follows. The greatest percentage of students' responses was related to the concentrated examination method, which showed their relative acceptance; also the highest percentage of professor's response and officials which represented a favorable attitude was to questions related to the concentrated examination method, and non-concentrated examination method which received unfavorable attitudes. There appeared to be no major attitudinal differences among students, university professors and officials towards concentrated examination method, comprehensive examination method, written average score, knowledge score, quotas, and admissions of gender. Conclusion: Based on the views of both students and professors, their responses to questions concerning admission quotas, revealed that some of these quotas resulted in divers complications amongst students including unpleasant feelings, annoyance, and incongruity among students etc. Therefore combining the quotas together or applying them in the form of additional quotas in general entrance exams might prove effective in alleviating anxieties and problems.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics (reliability and factorial structure) of Social Interest Scale for Iranian Children (SISIC) based on Adler’s theory. From different cities in Iran, and through a multi-stage cluster random sampling method, 290 children were recruited as statistical sample. The scale was answered by parents of children. Confirmatory factor analysis to evaluate factorial structure was used. In order to evaluate reliability, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used. The results of indicators of fitness showed that the proposed model is suitable. And second order factorial structure with four subscales of social interest scale (Responsibility-task doing, Relationship with people-empathy, Confidence-Assertive, Equality vs. Inferiority-superiority) had acceptable fit with the data. Cronbach's alpha for the four mentioned subscales as well as the total score was obtained: 89.0, 85.0, 72.0, 83.0 and 92.0. This indicates that this scale has an acceptable internal consistency. Gender comparison displayed that the girls had higher scores in the Social Interest scale, and also in responsibility-task doing, and Equality vs. Inferiority-Superiority. Accordingly, we can suggest that SISIC is a reliable and valid instrument to evaluate Social Interest in Iranian children ageing 4-12.

One of the key features of a successful test is to have an appropriate reliability. This study determined the validity and reliability of the Persian language placement test of Sa’adi Foundation. This test consists of three main sections: language knowledge, writing and speaking. The language knowledge section consists of three sub-sections: grammar, vocabulary, and reading. The statistical population of the test consisted of 140 language learners from 41 countries. To calculate the reliability and the construct validity, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and Pearson correlation coefficient was used respectively. The reliability index in the language knowledge sub-sections’, grammar was 0.71, vocabulary was 0.817, reading was 0.861 and for the whole language knowledge was 0.916. The reliability of the two sections of speaking and writing was 0.749 and the total test was 0.895. Considering that the acceptable reliability index in Cronbach's Alpha method was at least 0.7, it was found that the test in various sections and sub-sections, and the test overall, had an acceptable reliability. The correlation coefficients obtained from the test sections, between language knowledge and speaking were 0.175, language knowledge and writing 0.186, and writing and speaking 0.602. Perhaps at first glance, test validity is not acceptable, but by comparing the correlation between the sub-sections of the language knowledge and the skills of speaking and writing, it can be concluded that the students have acted poorly in the productive skills, and this shows that in their educational background, they are concerned only with language knowledge or declarative knowledge, not the procedural knowledge.one of the application of this article is that Persian curriculum should focused on improving procedural knowledge of the Persian learner.

One of the most common researches of individual differences in psychology, is self- esteem. In recent years, as a result of "dual process model" that emphasizes the importance of reflective processes and automated processes, cognitive psychology studies focused on the two types of self-esteem: explicit self-esteem (ESE) and Implicit Self-Esteem (ISE). Objectives: The purpose of the present study was evaluation the psychometric properties (reliability and validity) properties of Name Initial Preferences Task (IPT) in Iranian society and its adaptation with the Persian language alphabet. Methodes: A descriptive correlational research was carried out on 420 subjects (239 male, 181 female) university undergraduates with stratified random sampling. Results: In study 1, the reliability of IPT with using Cronbach's alpha and split-half and test-retest within 14 days of the 280 samples obtained. in study 2, to determine the validity of IPT, along with IPT, The scales of RSES, PANAS, and GHQ was conducted on 140 subjects. Correlation between IPT in test-retest 84/0 and alpha coefficient and split-half, respectively, 87/0 and 89/0. Also IPT scores significantly correlated with GHQ (56/0), PA (44/0), RSES (30/0) and NA (36/0-) indicate convergent and divergent validity of the scale. Counclusion: The overall results showed that the reliability and validity of IPT is Competente for Implicit self-esteem in the Iranian society. The suitability of psychometric characteristics of this scale, it can be useful measure for evaluating the Implicit self- esteem of iranian in non-clinical populations. Similarity of this results with researches of foreign languages suggests that the suitability of the Persian language in the scale.

Two important objectives for measuring the variable in behavioral an dcomplex causal relationships between variables. Beasurement asks about what is measured by observed variables ? and how ew can determine the validity and reliability of variables? The latter responds to this question: since the variables are not directly observable and measurable and only reflected in observed variables with measurement error how complex causal relatonships between these variables can be inferred? How the relationships between latent variables can be measured? In response to these kinds of question are evaluated by the measurement model and that of the second one are evaluated by the structural function model.

A big source of Rational number misconception is the "natural number bias". This term refers to the Interference of natural number knowledge in rational numbers. The research literature points at three main aspects where natural number knowledge are inappropriately Interfered in rational numbers tasks: "density", "operations", and "size". The overall goal of this study was to assess the psychometric properties items of "natural number bias test". To achieve this goal, a comprehensive test was constructed to test 7 and 9 graders’ natural number bias. This test had 62 tasks which administered on 181 secondary school students at Kerman in a pencil-and-paper form. After of pilot administration of test, data was collected and were analyzed by item response theory modeling. Data analyzing by R software has shown acceptably fitting whit dichotomous rash model. After removing 7 Item, the test had high diagnostic value in its purpose. Results showed that a natural number bias could be found on secondary student in all three aspects. The most difficulty was for "density" items and least difficult was for "size" items. "operations" items were scattered across the Rash scale. Most students were in the top questions test scale. Researchers can choose Items for participants based on their ability.

Although numerous methods have been proposed for detecting biased items, but a few researches have empirically investigated the power and efficiency of these methods. The main goai of this research was to apply IRT-based likelihood ratio test and confirmatory factor analysis in detecting differential item functioning (DIF) in high stakes tests. Monte Carlo simulated methods were used to answer the research questions. Required data were simulated through WINGEN2 in the form of 100 tests with 30 items that were fitted to 2PL model. Distributions of item difficulties and discrimination powers of all the tests were normal. Responses of 1000 examinees were also simulated with normal ability distribution for each test. Estimation methods of marginal maximum likelihood and weighted least squares were used to detect type and magnitudes of DIF. Data analysis in consecutive replications showed that IRT based methods were superior to CFA methods in detecting DIF. This superiority was observed in ail DIF conditions (low, moderate and high). After all. differences between two methods were small at 1000 sample sizes. No differences were observed between two methods in detecting different types of DIF. Results of this study confirm the results of Meade and Lautenschlager (2004; 2006), but is in contrast with the results of Flowers et al (2002). Finally, Likelihood Ratio test is recommended if there is any limitation in applying methods of detecting DIF.

Background: ‘Differentiation of self’ is an important factor for a person to cope with stressors and improve mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate instruments to assess this construct. Objectives: The present research aims to study the psychometric properties of the Differentiation of Self Inventory - Short Form as an appropriate instrument for assessing differentiation of self in the Iranian society. Method: After translation and adaptation of the questionnaire, 384 undergraduate students at Shiraz University who were selected using random multi-stage sampling method, responded to it. The instruments used in this study consisted of Differentiation of Self Inventory-Short Form (DSI-SF) and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ). Results: The results of factor analysis showed that the structure of this questionnaire clearly referred to the four factors of differentiation including fusion with others, emotional cut-off, emotional reactivity, and I-position. Face validity was confirmed by experts, and correlation coefficient of each component with the total score was significant. Moreover, the significant negative correlation between DSI-SF scores and somatic symptoms, anxiety/insomnia, social dysfunction, and depression scores was indicative of concurrent criterion validity. For the validity of scale, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was desirable. Conclusion: The results of showed that the validity and reliability of DSI-SH is qualified for assessing the differentiation of self, and that it can be used as a useful instrument for assessing the differentiation of self in the Iranian society. The role ofculture was also discussed in this study.

Narcissism is a disorder that affects interpersonal relationships and experiences, cognition, inclinations, and emotions, and accurate and early diagnosis of this disorder is important for psychological interventions. Hence, several measurement tools have been developed for this purposeThe aim of the present study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Sherman Short Form Factor narcissism scale (FFNI-SF). The sample consisted of 576 students of different educational levels of Allameh Tabataba’i, Tehran and Amirkabir Universities who completed FFNI-SF, Pathological Narcissism Inventory (PNI) and narcissistic personality Inventory (NPI). Data analysis was performed using psychometric indices such as internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent and construct validity. The results showed that the internal consistency index, Cronbach's alpha, was suitable for the whole questionnaire of 0.87 and for 15 subscales between 0.54 and 0.79. The test-retest reliability of the whole scale in three-week intervals was 0.88 and the test-retest coefficients of the test-retest subscales for 15 subscales were between 0.55 to 0.81, that was suitable. Also, the convergent validity of this questionnaire was significant due to the overall correlation coefficient of the score of this questionnaire with two questionnaires (PNI) and (NPI), respectively, equal to 0.52 and 0.53. The construct validity of this questionnaire, which was performed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), also showed a suitable and acceptable fitness of this questionnaire. In general, the results showed that this questionnaire has suitable validity and reliability. Therefore, the Iranian version of this FFNI-SF questionnaire can be used as a suitable tool by experts to assess narcissistic personality traits.

The development and foster of Research spirit is one of the formal education system goals that will bring change and innovation for students. The purpose of study was construction a tool for measuring student's Research spirit .The method of study was Descriptive (Survey- testing). For the first stage of study, dimensions of research spirit were identified by review of theoretical foundations of research spirit and developed items for pilot study. A sample of the 1425 girl students were selected by probability and non-probability Sampling (cluster-convenience sampling). The validity of questionnaire was studied by Content validity, professional judgment, Factor analysis and criterion validity and the reliability of questionnaire was calculated by test-re-test and internal consistency of Cronbach's alpha. Analysis of questions was determined by the correlation with scores of the scale and impact of the removal of questions on variance and reliability. Correlation of Convergent validity of the scale with Critical thinking orientation scale was 0/45 (sig ≤ 0.001). The result of factor analysis showed fourth factors: Perseverance, impulsive practice management, curious and the ability to perform team working. The reliability of scale by using test-retest after 15 days was 0.80 and the internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha was 0.81. Therefore, according to results of reliability and validity, the scale of Research spirit can be used by researchers as appropriate test.

The Big Five Inventory (BFI-10) is a shorter, 10 item version of the BFI. It was designed to be used when time limitations in a research protocol does not allow using the longer BFI. It measures personality in one minute or less. In this report, we evaluate 10-item measures of the Big-Five personality dimensions. The current study was conducted in survey and cross sectional as well as ex-post facto research context. A group of 317 randomly selected normal participants took part in this research. Principal component analysis extracted five factors which were labeled big five traits. However, for this scale other type of validity (convergent validity) and three reliabilities (test, retest, split half and internal constancy) were reported. The factor analysis and validity reliability coefficients demonstrated the same factor structure that previously found. Based on these results, it was concluded that BFI-10 contain good validity and reliability in Iranian population and it can be used, as valid measure in personality screening studies.

The objective of this study is to investigate the sources of systematic errors associated with the scores obtained from interviews of job applicants and to estimate the generalizability and dependability coefficients within the framework of generalizability theory. Accordingly, the data on the job competency assessment scores of the applicants for the three positions of one the public universities were analyzed using a two-way, fully crossed design. Then, the regular sources of error, including the questions, interviewers and interaction of errors were determined and measured, with the help of which the generalizability and dependability coefficients of the scores were estimated. The findings suggest that generalizability and dependability coefficients of the assessment scores are not equal in all job interviews. Moreover, since the generalizability and dependability coefficients are less than expected, the mean assessment score of one job should not be the basis for decision-making for all the three job selections. Based on the results, it is suggested that, before the adoption of the interviewers' opinions about the merits of applicants, the generalizability and dependability coefficients of the scores be estimated using generalizability theory and if the coefficients are low, the job interview scores should not be the basis for decision-making.

Background: Meta-analysis is a strong approach, but sometimes leads to wrong and misleading answers. Objective: To conduct case studies of clinical trials and observed cases regarding factors that affect the credibility of meta-research, such as the effect size, the number of analyses, data scale, analyses’ flexibility, method of reporting, and conflict of interest. Research Method: The meta-analysis method was adopted in this research. A case study of corticosteroid therapy in acute bacterial meningitis was discussed in this paper. In addition, the meta-analysis progressed in a step-by-step manner with 6 researches out of 11 ones. Results: The results of the metaanalysis of acute bacterial meningitis indicated that numerous studies have been carried out under such a title in different places. Each author has identified reasons for the use of steroid treatment. Although their reasons were sometimes incomplete, it must be noted that their researches have some things in common.

The purpose of this study was construct and validate a questionnaire to measure personal epistemology in children. Accordingly, the 44 question with Likert scoring method was designed to have three options. Face and content validity was assessed through the survey of 10 experts and its reliability, through the implementation of 50 students to retest interval of one month, was calculated 0/72. Then, the questionnaire was administered on 472 students (217 males and 255 females) and using factor analysis with varimax rotation method revealed five factors with higher eigenvalues: simple knowledge, certain knowledge, source of knowledge, product of knowing and justification of knowing. In order to determine validity and reliability of the scale respectively, confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach alpha coefficients were used. Results of Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit to the proposed five-factor structure. Also, the total score for internal consistency through Cronbach’s alpha, was 0/85. According to the results, the scale has acceptable reliability and validity and can be used as an applicable instrument in assessing personal epistemology in children.

introduction: People always want to explain their own behaviors. Among this behaviors that we want to have explanation about it, is delinquent and criminal behaviors. Aims: The aim of current study is standardization of revised version of Gudjonsson Blame Attribution Inventory (GBAI-R). method: For this reason in a cross-sectional research, among Evin prison and Tehran Correction center clients a number of 464 subjects were selected by the use of convenient sampling method. Results: Content validity evaluated by Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI) that in the base of these, two item (items of 8 and 26) were eliminated. For evaluation of model fit, we used indexes such as CMIN/DF, Goodness of fit index, Adjusted Goodness of fit index, Root mean square error of approximation, parsimony normed fit index, incremental fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, and comparative fit index. The result of confirmatory factor analysis showed that three-factor model have acceptable fitness with data and factor loading for all items (except item number 23) was average and high. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients showed that GBAI-R have high reliability. Discussion: In sum, the result of current study showed that this inventory is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing attributional style in criminals.

The current investigation was aimed toward testing the factor structure and Measurement of internal consistencyof academic well-Being questionnaire (AWBQ).Method:Three-hundred and sixty five students from school of Poldokhtar city (189 male and 176 female) were selected through multi-stage sampling method. Students completed the Farsi version of AWBQ and the academic stress questionnaire (ASQ). The exploratory factoranalysisand confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency were used to compute the AWBQ's factorial validity and reliability, respectively.Findings:The results of principle component analysis (PC) and oblique rotation replicated the four-factor structure of the AWBQ. Based on item content, factors were named difficulty with school values, school burnout, satisfaction with educational choice and schoolwork engagement. Based on AMOS software, Goodness-of-fit indices of confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the 4 extracted factors. The multidimensional scales of AWBQ were shown to be an acceptable measurement model in this sample. The significant correlation between the AWBQ factor score and it’s dimensions with total score of academic stress confirmed the validity of the AWBQ.Conclusion:These findings speak to the robustness of the AWBQ, in revealing its relatively stable structure, and consequently, to its potential usefulness as a valid measure of academic well-being for Iranian students.
