Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the validity and reliability of Pearson, Child and Carmen's (2010) ritual questionnaire in committed relationships. The population of the research included all married men and women in Isfahan city in 2023-2024, the study was conducted using the available sampling method and with a sample size of 388 people, which was calculated based on the ratio of the number of samples to the number of items in the questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed and completed electronically and partially in printed form after being translated and legalized by experts. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to check the reliability of the questionnaire and confirmatory factor analysis was used to determine its validity. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the whole questionnaire of rituals in committed relationships is equal to 0.988 and for the factors of daily routines and tasks (0.919), Idiosyncratic rituals (0.952), everyday talk rituals (0.963), intimacy expressions (961. 0) and couple-time rituals (0.971) were obtained. Also, the results of the factor analysis confirm that the structure of the questionnaire has an acceptable fit with the data and all the goodness of fit indicators confirm the model (NFI= 0.924, RMSEA = 0.078, IFI = 0.917 and CFI = 0.946). Finally, the convergence validity is mentioned based on the average extracted variance (AVE) of five factors, the minimum value of which is 0.74, which indicates a suitable convergence. Therefore, it can be concluded that the questionnaire can be a suitable tool for evaluating rituals in the committed relationships of married men and women, and it can be used as a reliable tool in research.
