Abstract
This study evaluated the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Persian Parenting Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ) among Iranian parents. In this descriptive cross-sectional psychometric study, 300 parents from Hormozgan province participated voluntarily. Content validity was confirmed by experts. Construct validity was examined through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using AMOS software (maximum likelihood estimation) to test a two-factor model: independent and controlled parenting motivation. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation. Results showed that Items 4 and 6 were excluded due to conceptual overlap and poor model fit within the Iranian cultural context. Discriminant validity confirmed that the scale measures two distinct factors as hypothesized. Reliability analysis yielded Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.87 for independent motivation, 0.82 for controlled motivation, and 0.80 for the total questionnaire. These findings demonstrate that the Persian version of the PMQ is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring parenting motivation in Iranian society.
