Abstract Changes in the lives of the elderly can have profound effects on the lives of the elderly and their mental health. If one is flexible and adaptable, one can cope more with these changes. The present study was conducted to investigate the psychometric properties of the Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS) in the elderly. The present study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of method. The statistical population of the present study included the elderly in the empty nest in Tehran in 2021. Among them, 278 eligible people who volunteered to participate in the study were selected as a sample by the sampling method and the Simmons and Gaher distress tolerance questionnaire (2005) responded. The results of exploratory factor analysis using the principal components method, in addition to the general factor of anxiety tolerance, confirmed four factors (tolerance, absorption, evaluation and regulation) for the anxiety tolerance questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of the questionnaire and confirmatory factor analysis was used to determine its factor validity. The results showed that the questionnaire has an acceptable internal consistency and the reliability coefficients of the distress tolerance questionnaire are between 0.64 and 0.82. Also, the total reliability coefficient of the questionnaire is equal to 0.89. Confirmatory factor analysis was also used to determine factor validity. The results of confirmatory factor analysis confirm that the structure of the questionnaire has an acceptable fit with the data and all goodness indicators of the fit confirm the model. Therefore, considering the desirable psychometric properties, this questionnaire is a suitable tool for determining Distress Tolerance tolerance.

The purpose of this study was construct and validate a questionnaire to measure personal epistemology in children. Accordingly, the 44 question with Likert scoring method was designed to have three options. Face and content validity was assessed through the survey of 10 experts and its reliability, through the implementation of 50 students to retest interval of one month, was calculated 0/72. Then, the questionnaire was administered on 472 students (217 males and 255 females) and using factor analysis with varimax rotation method revealed five factors with higher eigenvalues: simple knowledge, certain knowledge, source of knowledge, product of knowing and justification of knowing. In order to determine validity and reliability of the scale respectively, confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach alpha coefficients were used. Results of Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit to the proposed five-factor structure. Also, the total score for internal consistency through Cronbach’s alpha, was 0/85. According to the results, the scale has acceptable reliability and validity and can be used as an applicable instrument in assessing personal epistemology in children.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of Persian short form Social Production Function Instrument for the Level of wellbeing in older people, including reliability, validity and exploratory factor analysis. This study is descriptive and the population of this study were elderly men and women in Tehran; 283 older people (135 males and 148 females), were selected through available sampling. The exploratory factor analysis were investigated through principal component method, this analysis confirmed five factors (affection, conformation behavior, status, comfort, stimulation). Test-retest reliability and internal consistency the ordinal and Cronbach's alpha coefficients confirmed. According to the results of current research, the short form of Social Production Function Instrument for the Level of wellbeing is a reliable instrument with valid psychometric properties to measure the rate of well-being in Iranian ageing.
